Week of 2/09/09
Dear Parents,
This week we will be studying the following in school: Think Link Probes, Reading Sayings We Share, Writing (Short Story), Math (Multiplication), and in Social Studies (Economics).
Our Valentine Party is the 13th (Friday). We are needing fruit, cheese and crackers, and things kids like that are healthy. JRFH is that afternoon and we don't kids getting sick from a bunch of junk then jump roping. If you want to send "treat bags" with candy that is fine; I will send it home with the children to enjoy later. Names for valentines are the following: Adam, Cassidy, Parker, Josh, Savanah, Madyson, Darren, Estuardo, Laken, Calvin, Ashley, Jacob, Kerrigan, Cayla, Avery, Isaiah, Cameron, Crissa, Whitney, and Miranda.
Dates to remember: 2/13 JRFH, 2/13 Valentine Party, 2/16 No School for students, 2/17 Mid-terms home, 2/24 Abe Lincoln Assembly during school day, 2/27 Field Trip/Play, 3/18-3/25 Book fair, 3/26 Science Fair Finals at (6:30p. Shepherdsville Elementary), 3/27 Modern Dance Assembly (2:30) during School Day, 3/30-4/3 Spring Break.
Homework for this week: Monday- Friday: Do Think Link probe for Math, Science, and Reading by Friday. Vocabulary words 15 minutes each night, Read 15 minutes each night and write a two sentence summary with Title, and Author, and telling what you did for homework: Have a parent sign and return sheet to school at the end of each week. Vocabulary words: Words can always be found prior to our reading story (Ramona), in the Vocabulary story (in the reading text): generation, summoned, faithful, persistently, illuminated, and fortunate.
Think Link Learning probes for homework are due by Friday February 27. Here are the steps to follow: 1. Go to http://assessment.discoveryeducation.com/login/ 2. Click on "Progress Zone." 3. Type in login code. 4. It will ask for your name type it in as you do at school (first name. last name). The login code for Science is NF9863, and the login code for Reading is FS1709, and the login code for Math is UD1135. You may also access by going to tiptonsclass.com, and clicking on student links, then click on Thinklinklearning.com, student login.
