Week of 3/16/09
Dear Parents,
This week we will be studying the following in school: Reading –Crowded House, Writing (Personal Narrative), Math (Measurement), and in Social Studies (Economics). Congratulations to Calvin Gronda, and Adam Anderson they tied as Science fair winners for our room. Monday afternoon we will judge the finalist to find out the winner for all third grades. That winner will go to the Science fair at Shepherdsville Elementary School March 26. Everyone did very well on his/her projects.
Dates to remember: 3/18-3/25 Book fair, 3/26 Social Studies/Economics Test (Ch.11-12), 3/26 Science Fair Finals at 6:30p.m. Shepherdsville Elementary, 3/26 Report Cards come home, 3/27 Modern Dance Assembly (2:30) during School Day, 3/30-4/3 Spring Break-yahoo.
4/8 Early release, 4/21 Radio Disney Show Assembly during school 2:15-3:15, 5/1 No School, 5/11-5/22 CATS Testing, 5/25 Memorial Holiday.
Homework for this week: Monday- Friday: Do Think Link probe for Math, Science, and Reading. Vocabulary words 15 minutes each night, Read 15 minutes each night and write a two sentence summary with Title, and Author, and telling what you did for homework: Have a parent sign and return sheet to school at the end of each week. Vocabulary words: Words can always be found prior to our reading story (Crowded House), in the Vocabulary story (in the reading text): dreadful, wailing, wits, advice, faring, and farewell.
Think Link Learning probes for homework were all due by Friday March 27. Here are the steps to follow: 1. Go to http://assessment.discoveryeducation.com/login/ 2. Click on “Progress Zone.” 3. Type in login code. 4. It will ask for your name type it in as you do at school (first name. last name). The login code for Science is CY3441 and the login code for Reading is GQ2055, and the login code for Math is JE4735. You may also access by going to tiptonsclass.com, and clicking on student links, then click on Thinklinklearning.com, student login.
