Dear Parents,
Starting this week (I believe you should be able to go on-line to infinite campus and view your child’s grades as they are posted. This will insure you know exactly where your child stands at any given day.
We are in the process of doing different testing on the children to determine exactly where they are so we can meet their needs. Think Link testing just ended and I do not have those results back yet, I have done reading Fluency tests, and we are doing STAR tests this week as part of reading. I will also start DRA sometime this week with the children. Due to all this beginning of the year testing I am hanging longer on the first two stories in our text for reading. Normally, I will do about one story per week.
Grandparent’s luncheon for our classroom will be Friday September 19, at 11:18. Grandparents wishing to have lunch will wait in the lobby after signing in at the office. After lunch they may take their grandchild to the book fair, and come to our classroom to share stories and receive a letter from their grandchild. I am asking they bring their favorite childhood story to share with their grandchild during the time after lunch. They should plan on being here with us from 11:18-12:20.
Dates to remember: 9/8-19 book fair, 9/10 Early Release for students, 9/12 Body works assembly (during school), 9/19 Grandparent’s day, 9/30 Author Visits, 9/30 PM Reading Night in Library, 10/3 Fall Festival, 10/8 Early Release for students, 10/10 End of quarter, 10/20 Report Cards home, 10/22-10/24 No school for students, 10/31 Fieldtrip.
Homework for this week: Monday-Thursday: Study vocabulary words 15 minutes, study multiplication facts “2’s” 10 minutes, read your AR book 15 minutes and write author/title/ and 2 sentence summary. Vocabulary words: stubborn, grumble, mumbled, exploded darted, streak, and languages.
