Week of 10/20/08
Dear Parents,
We are trying a new strategy for our vocabulary words this week, and in a few weeks I will introduce yet another strategy. I am hoping the children will then pick the strategy that works best for them to study by, and incorporate that technique into their routine for better understanding. This week we wrote the word on one side of a strip of paper, and the definition to the other side (as a flash card). We then thought of our favorite song and put the tune to our word and definition. Ask your child to sing a word/definition to you tonight.

10/22-10/24 No school for students, 10/27 Red Ribbon Essay/posters due, 10/31
Field trip to Joe Huber’s, 11/4 No School election, 11/12 Early release
students only, 11/26-28 Thanksgiving Holiday.
Homework for this week: Monday-Thursday: Work on your Essay, and poster contest, and this is a Social Studies grade. Vocabulary test will be the 30th. Vocabulary words: Words can always be found prior to our reading story (This week Turtle Bay), in the Vocabulary story (in the reading text): trained, eager, wise, message, patiently, and litter
