Week of 12/08/08
Dear Parents,
We are counting the days until Christmas break, and the energy is high. This week we will be studying the following in school: Math (Data/graphing), Science (Objects in the Sky), and Social Studies (Christmas around the World). Star tests in Reading and Math will be done this week.
The Parent Portal is working and they have made the corrections to our class that was needed so you can now view your child’s grades:
· Come to the school and verify your information; sign the form saying the information in the household is correct.
· They will give you a 34 letter and number Globally Unique ID (GUID) which will give you access to your household in Parent Portal.
· View your child's and household information.
· You can access Parent Portal from any computer that has Internet access.
· If you have any questions or concerns regarding information in the Parent Portal please contact your child’s school

We are collecting (New) toiletries for the Shepherd’s Shelter all month as a Community Service Project. If you have not come in for your password to access your child’s grades (on-line), please do so. It is yet another way we are trying to communicate what is happening academically for your child.
Dates to remember: 12/8 Santa Shop/Book Fair (all week), 12/12 Santa Shop (our class 9:40), 12/19 Polar Express Party (wear Pjs), 12/19 End of Quarter, 12/22-1/2 Christmas Break, 1/19 MLK (No School).
Homework for this week: Monday-Thursday: Do Think Link probe for Math and Reading by Friday. Vocabulary words 15 minutes each night, Read 15 minutes each night and write a two sentence summary with Title, and Author, and telling what you did for homework: Have a parent sign and return to school in the morning. Vocabulary words: Words can always be found prior to our reading story (This week Rosie), in the Vocabulary story (in the reading text): firm, confident, comfortable, approach, equipment, program, and appointment.
Think Link Learning probes for homework assigned last week are due by Friday 5. Here are the steps to follow: 1. Go to http://assessment.discoveryeducation.com/login/ 2. Click on “Progress Zone.” 3. Type in login code. 4. It will ask for your name type it in as you do at school (first name. last name). The login code for Science is BQ2805, and the login code for Reading is FG0322. You may also access by going to tiptonsclass.com, and clicking on student links, then click on Thinklinklearning.com, student login.
